Bloom Period: April—Aug
Habitat: Rich woods, rocky slopes, dry, open woods
- Flowers have the five notched petals characteristic of pinks.
- Stems sticky and hairy.
- Sticky substance traps small insects.
- Flowers attract ruby-throated hummingbirds, one of their primary pollinators.
- NOTE: Has not been found yet at either Holliday Lake State Park or Bear Creek Lake State Park, but too distinctive to omit from website.
