  • Flowers have the five notched petals characteristic of pinks.
  • Stems sticky and hairy.
  • Sticky substance traps small insects.
  • Flowers attract ruby-throated hummingbirds, one of their  primary pollinators.
  • NOTE: Has not been found yet at either Holliday Lake State Park or Bear Creek Lake State Park, but too distinctive to omit from website.
