Habitat: Moist, acidic woods, rich, rocky, wooded slopes, mossy banks
- Very hairy stems.
- Thought to be useful in treating liver ailments because of the leaf’s supposed resemblance to the liver (both have three lobes).
- Leaves evergreen. Older leaves turn copper colored during the winter and then die down in the spring.
