Habitat: Moist, acidic woods, rich, rocky, wooded slopes, mossy banks

Interesting Facts:

  • Very hairy stems.
  • Thought to be useful in treating liver ailments because of the leaf’s supposed resemblance to the liver (both have three lobes).
  • Leaves evergreen.  Older leaves turn copper colored during the winter and then die down in the spring.
